NEW YORK, HERE WE COME!!!

So excited to learn Undercurrent will be making it’s New York debut at The Manhattan Film Festival 2011 at the end of July — this is one place I’ve dreamed of screening – maybe because I lived there in 1998 and fell in love with the rhythm of that city or maybe because New York has such an incredible history.  In any case, I am just over the moon!  Have heard so many friends in the last while talk of trips to New York – NOW I can talk too, of my trip – hopefully my pennies stack up to send me there – otherwise, I may have to find myself a Daddy Warbucks to make this tour to the big apple a reality – mmmn … exciting.

WAB BEST PERFORMANCE IN AN ACTING ROLE-FEMALE FOR UNDERCURRENT @ AOF

Holy crap!!  Just found out from another filmmaker that I was nominated. This category was NOT on the original listing OR I totally missed it – MORE LIKELY — regardless, it’s a lovely honour to be recognized. NOW, I’m REALLY sad that I didn’t save up enough pennies to venture out to this festival. Ah well, hopefully another opportunity will present itself to travel once again to another festival.  Thanks to my on-screen hubby, David MacNeil, for his incredible contribution in this film – a wonderful actor!  And to our director Jock MacDonald – bloodsport baby! A lovely way to end my evening.  Cheers!

UNDERCURRENT: OFFICIAL SELECTION TO 30TH ANNUAL BRECKENRIDGE FESTIVAL OF FILM IN COLORADO JUNE 10-13TH, 2010

Taken aback this evening when I received a phonecall from Breckenridge Festival of Film congratulating me for being selected to screen at their 30th Annual Film Festival.  Honestly, I was in a state of shock as I was sitting down to dinner with the chidlins and had totally forgotten that I had submitted to this festival, not to mention was unaware of the notification date, and the plain fact that they took the time to call each of the ones selected.  The woman on the phone (who I must apologize to in advance cause I was so taken aback that I never really absorbed her name) was so lovely and very complimentary.  She said she could tell by my voice that I was the actress in the film.  That distinctive, go figure!  In any case, am thrilled and honoured that Undercurrent has been chosen to be a part of this festival.  I am hoping to make it out to Breckenridge – I’ve heard incredible things about this festival.

Screening at Anchorage Film Festival a toasty warm reception

I have to say the venue at Bear Tooth Theatre with a bar in the theatre and tables in front of all seats serving gourmet pizza and burritos was an awesome way to screen a film.  In this case Undercurrent screened during the special program Martini Matinee so voldka was abundant — The screening was on Friday at 2:30pm and honestly I figured there would be very few people in attendance – boy was I wrong – it was pretty much full – Anchorage moviegoers are true lovers of film (or voldka perhaps!) – honestly it was a wonderful experience and the people of Anchorage are lovely – and hey, ya can’t beat the setting, truly a winter wonderland as the snow crystallizes on the branches of trees and the mountains, wow, it’s like they pose for tourists in search of a perfect photo.    PS saw a couple great films, one being Hiptsters (from Russia) just nominated for a Golden Globe – amazing!  And a really moving doc called Girls on the Wall – I cried the whole way through.  All in all, Anchorage Film Festival is a must for all filmmakers.
